CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS IN FAYETTEVILLE, AR

Chiropractic Adjustments Designed Around You

At Thrive Wellness Center, an adjustment isn’t something we do on autopilot. We consider your history, symptoms, movement, posture, and comfort before choosing how and where to adjust.

What a Chiropractic Adjustment Is

A chiropractic adjustment is a controlled movement applied to a joint in the spine or another part of the body. The goal is to influence joint motion and help you move more comfortably.

There’s research behind spinal manipulation for certain types of pain. A 2017 JAMA systematic review and meta-analysis of 26 randomized controlled trials found that, for acute low back pain, spinal manipulative therapy was associated with modest improvements in pain and function over six weeks. The review included 15 trials with 1,711 patients for pain outcomes and 12 trials with 1,381 patients for function outcomes.

At our center, an adjustment isn't chosen simply because you came in with a certain complaint. Your history, symptoms, movement, posture, imaging when appropriate, and comfort level all help determine what technique makes sense.

How We Choose Your Adjustment

Not every joint needs the same technique. Before adjusting you, we look at what you’re experiencing, how your body moves, and what your exam shows. That helps us decide where to adjust, how to adjust it, and which technique is appropriate for you.

Your Health History & Symptoms

We look at what brought you in, where you’re feeling discomfort, how long it has been happening, and anything in your health history that may affect your adjustment. Your symptoms help us determine what areas need closer attention.

‍

Posture & Movement Findings

We look at how your spine and joints move, along with what we see when you stand, sit, and move. These findings help us identify areas where movement may be limited or where your body is compensating.

X-Ray Analysis (When Appropriate)

When X-rays are part of your evaluation, we use them to look at the structure and alignment of your spine. This gives us additional information when deciding which areas to address and how your adjustment should be performed.

Your Comfort Level

Your adjustment should never feel like a guessing game. We consider what you’re comfortable with when choosing between techniques such as a manual adjustment, drop-table adjustment, or instrument-assisted adjustment.

Different Ways We Can Adjust

There’s more than one way to perform a chiropractic adjustment. At Thrive, the technique we use depends on the area being addressed, what we find during your evaluation, and what you’re comfortable with.

01

Manual Adjustments

A hands-on technique where the chiropractor applies a controlled force to a specific joint. Manual adjustments are used to address areas where joint movement is limited.

02

Drop Table Technique

This technique uses a specialized table with sections that gently move when pressure is applied. The table helps support the adjustment without requiring as much force from the chiropractor.

03

Instrument-Assisted Adjustments (ArthroStim)

The ArthroStim delivers controlled, rapid pulses to a targeted area rather than using a traditional hands-on adjustment. It can be useful for areas that need a lighter approach or for patients who prefer less manual pressure.

04

Extremity Adjusting

Adjustments aren't limited to the spine. This approach can be used on joints such as the shoulders, hips, knees, wrists, and ankles when those areas are part of the problem being addressed.

05

SOT Technique

SOT uses specific positioning and gentle contact to influence how the body is positioned during the technique. It can be used as a supportive approach when addressing certain spinal and pelvic findings.

Who May Benefit From Chiropractic Adjustments?

Chiropractic adjustments may be used for different musculoskeletal concerns and for people of different ages. Whether an adjustment is appropriate depends on your symptoms, health history, examination findings, and the technique being considered.

Adjustments may be considered for:

The goal isn't to adjust everyone the same way. We first determine whether an adjustment makes sense for you, then choose the technique based on what we find.

Are Chiropractic Adjustments Safe?

The safety of an adjustment depends on the person, the area being treated, and the technique used. Research generally reports mild, short-lived side effects such as muscle soreness or temporary discomfort. A 2017 review of 26 randomized controlled trials on acute low back pain found no serious adverse events in the included trials.

At Thrive, we:

01

Start With Your Evaluation

Your health history, symptoms, and examination findings help determine whether an adjustment is appropriate.

02

Choose the Right Technique

We select the technique based on your findings, the area being addressed, and your needs.

03

Work Within Your Comfort Level

We explain what we're doing and adjust the approach when needed.

04

Know When Not to Adjust

An adjustment isn't right for every person or every complaint. Your evaluation helps determine when another approach is more appropriate.

An Adjustment Is One Part of Your Care

An adjustment can help address joint movement, but it may not be the only part of your plan. Depending on your evaluation and goals, we may also recommend other therapies or exercises that serve a different purpose.

Your care plan may include:

Postural correction

Spinal decompression

Rehab and exercises

Lifestyle and movement guidance
